Description

Objective:

This is an intensive two-week intermediate course intended to expand student knowledge and understanding of Russia’s interest in the Arctic region.

Learning Outcomes:

  • identify the territories that comprise the Arctic region
  • discuss the significance of historical changes in the Arctic
  • evaluate Russian military developments in the Arctic and Russian concerns over sovereignty
  • critique Russia’s foreign policy with respect to other Arctic countries
  • analyze Russia’s economic development in the Arctic and the financial cost of its expansion
