Description

Objective:

The course objective is to develop mastery of math concepts and operations using guided, assessment-based study in the ALEKS system. Following an initial assessment, students are given the choice of topics for active study based on individual current readiness; as progress is made, the selection of topics evolves according to developing readiness. Interactive feedback, step-by-step explanations, and hyperlinked dictionary definitions support active mastery of new material. Periodic reassessments confirm mastery and ensure adequate ongoing review; students can also review spontaneously. Real-time reporting of progress is visible to students.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Solve and graph linear equations and inequalities with precision.
  • Master factoring and performing operations on polynomials.
  • Perform operations on rational expressions and solve rational equations effectively.
  • Execute operations with positive and negative exponents confidently.
  • Handle operations on radical expressions and solve radical equations proficiently.
  • Understand, graph, and perform operations on functions and their graphs.
  • Solve and graph quadratic equations accurately.
  • Apply unit circle and right-angle trigonometry concepts.
  • Graph trigonometric functions, find values, and perform operations on trigonometric functions and their inverses.
