Program Description:
Jackson EMC has Five offices servicing 12 counties in Northeast Georgia. Our apprentices safely build, maintain and repair the power grid. Currently 54 employees in the program. This apprenticeship program is a 7 year program with 8 levels. The program is reviewed annually to ensure it meets industry standards and current safety protocols.
Our apprenticeship program includes both on the job training with a minimum of 10,000 hours upon completion of the program as well as classroom instruction that is taught through face to face instruction as well as online materials.
Program Objective:
In the 700 series, the sixth year of the program, the apprentice continues mastering the outside lineman occupation. Advanced level skills are highlighted as well as significant field work.

- change out cut-out on energized lines
- frame/lay out conductors for re-conductor
- splice energized 336 mcm conductor
- replace dead-end conductors
- cut in double dead-end in existing primary
- change out post insulator (narrow construction)
- Change out wood cross arm with 3 phase primary
