The course objective is to learn the processes and principles involved in intelligence collection, how this is used to satisfy gaps, and how it further reduces uncertainty for decision-makers. The students are first oriented to the early stages of intelligence collection during the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace process. The course then looks at the basics of collection management and the intelligence disciplines. Next, the students are exposed to the dynamic nature of intelligence requirements, turning those requirements into tasks, and the intelligence specialist's role in developing strong requirements that will drive operations. The students are also introduced to the collection operations management process and its challenges. Students will develop well-written intelligence collection requirements and clearly understand how to best employ collection platforms against these requirements using various exploitation techniques.
