Students will continue their studies from English Composition I to produce organized essays using correct organization and structure, while building advanced skills in research methods (accessing print and electronic resources from the internet, library, and other avenues), critical analysis, synthesis of information, and documentation skills using MLA (properly using in-text citation, quotes, paraphrasing, summarizing, and a works cited page). Students will evaluate the validity of reasoning and logic in arguments; comprehend and apply the process of building inquiry-based arguments and apply critical thinking skills and writing strategies to communicate effectively within appropriate rhetorical settings. They will also use all of this knowledge to critique their own and others’ essays. The course is built around the theme “How can We Connect Despite Our Differences?”
