Description

Objective:

The course objective is to build skills needed by Contract Managers (CMs), Project Managers (PMs), Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs), Contracting Specialists (CSs), Contracting Officers (COs), and other mission and support personnel who are responsible for translating mission requirements into visible Statements of Work (SOWs) for acquisitions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • identify potential problems of a given SOW and explain why they could present a problem;
  • identify all the appropriate statements that might appear in a SOW and explain why the others are not appropriate;
  • define the types of work statements;
  • define program scope;
  • define the role of the program Work Breakdown Structure (WBS);
  • define the purpose and contents of a Statement of Work (SOW);
  • differentiate between tasks and data requirements;
  • produce a Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) matrix that provides a set of data deliverables that match the SOW;
  • develop SOWs using provided SOW samples and template;
  • identify all the data requirements and their associated DIDs within a SOW;
  • demonstrate problem solving skills as part of a team.
