Objective:

Learning Outcomes:

• Apply the theory of the 8 functions of command to incidents including single unit residential, multi-unit residential, strip malls, commercial, and big box buildings.
• Analyze incident conditions and critical factors to determine the magnitude of the response problem, and develop strategy and tactics to match the hazard and the needs of a diverse community.
• Plan an appropriate response plan within the capabilities of available personnel and equipment.
• Recognize how to adjust the response plan to the conditions of the response and to notify higher levels of response when required by the changes to the response plan.
• Understand the theory of the 8 functions of command including, deployment management, assume, confirm, and position of command, situation evaluation, strategy and incident action planning, communications, organization, review, evaluation, and revision, and continue, transfer and termination of command.
• Understand the command critical thinking, problem solving and decision making processes that include the use of critical factors, risk management, strategy developing, and incident action plan development and implementation.
• Demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the roles of first arriving incident commander(IC), support officer, second arriving incident commander, senior advisor, and other command positions.
• Prepare a response to favorably change the outcome of a given incident in a manner consistent with the local emergency response plan and the organizations standard operating procedures, meeting the needs of diverse customers.
• Evaluate the progress of the emergency response to ensure that the response objectives are being met safely, effectively, and efficiently, and meeting the service needs of the community.
